The garden clubs in The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. are divided up into seven (7) districts, Laurel District encompasses the northern most part of the state (30 counties). Mary Ellen Roos,
Laurel District Director (2011-2013)

Born and raised in New England, Mary Ellen Roos has her BA and MA in Education from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, CT. She taught school in Connecticut for 10 years, worked for the Connecticut State Labor Dept for 10 years and after moving to Georgia in 1980, worked in the banking industry in the Human Resources area for 20 years.

Mary Ellen joined the Cherokee County Master Gardeners in 2001 and served as president in 2004. She also joined the Laurel Garden Club in 2002 and served as its president for two years. She has been the president of the Garden Club Council of Cherokee County since November 2005.
